SCIENTIFIC AND SOCIAL MEDIA PROFILES
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Krzysztof Hejduk, a laureate of the scholarship awarded by the Polish Minister of Education and Science for outstanding students and a three time laureate of the University of Lodz Rector Scholarship, has worked for the Common Language Resources and Technology Infrastructure projects, and has graduated from the University of Lodz with both a distinguished BA thesis in linguistics and an MA whose distinguishing is currently being considered. He is member of The Polish Cognitive Linguistics Association. He presented the results of his research into game localisation at international conferences (PTJK’21 Lodz; PCTS12 Timisoara – co-authored by his academic supervisor, Mikołaj Deckert, PhD).
He pursues academic career focusing on cognitive linguistics, reception studies, ludic-interactive material AVT/MA and computerisation-digitalisation research with particular interest in eyetracking, artificial intelligence development, automatisation for business, corpus linguistics, interlingual subtitling, and serious-game art from the perspective of a new interactive artistic form of expression.
BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE
Krzysztof Hejduk (Master's degree in linguistics, 2022 – specialising in audiovisual translation under the scientific supervision of prof. Mikołaj Deckert):
- two-time laureate of the scholarship awarded by the Polish Minister of Education and Science for outstanding students (2020-2022).
- three-time laureate of the University of Lodz Rector Scholarship (2019-2021).
- member of The Polish Cognitive Linguistics Association (2021) and the student-doctoral association KNGB UŁ for studying video games in scientific contexts (2021).
- worked in several research & development project teams, including:
- National Science Centre's Preludium Bis 3: On-screen language in video games: a reception perspective on translation;
- CLARIN-BIZ and CLARIN-ERIC: European Research Infrastructure Consortium: Common Language Resources and Technology Infrastructure;
- IDUB Excellence Initiative Research University UŁ: Visual-verbal stimuli in video games: a translation perspecive.
Certified qualifications in: academic English (CEFR C2 equivalent), proficient use of the CAT Memsource Translation Management System (2019), theoretical and practical operation of eyetracking systems (2021). He completed technical and specialized translation internships (2019); his BA thesis was awarded by the Directorate of the UŁ's Institute of English Studies (2021). He presented his translatological research findings at international conferences, e.g. the 13th International Conference on Professional Communication and Translation Studies (Timisoara, 2021), Cognitive Linguistics in the year 2021/2022 (Łódź/Szczecin), and the sixth iteration of Fun for All: International Conference on Video Game Translation and Accessibility (Barcelona, 2023).
His research interests also revolve around corpus linguistics, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, literature studies, accessible design of human–computer interfaces (including UX/PX), and the development of tech/software, digitisation and automation (particularly with scientific and business applications).
